2025 Q4 - European Components Distribution (DMASS) in 2025: Navigating Challenges, Building Strength
Q4 Key facts:
- European Components Distribution rises by +9.8% to 3.77 billion Euro.
- Semiconductors increase by +7.7% to 2.30 billion Euro.
- Interconnect, Passive & Electromechanic increase by +13.3% to 1.47 billion Euro.
- Outlook 2026: A promising trend rests on fragile foundations — Europe’s electronics industry remains dangerously exposed to geopolitical tensions and supply chain shocks between the US and China.
Key quote:
Hermann Reiter, Chairman DMASS Europe:
“After a long period of stagnation, the market is regaining momentum. Despite ongoing uncertainties, the European components market is clearly finding its way back to growth. A strong fourth quarter and a 6.9% increase in the second half of 2025 mark a decisive turnaround, even if full‑year revenues of €15.2 billion remain 3.3% below 2024. Hopes for further improvement now outweigh the concerns.”
Note to editors: DMASS Europe represents ~85% of European components DTAM.
Berlin, Feb 02, 2026 – The latest market figures indicate a notable return to growth across the European electronic components sector.
While this is a welcome signal of recovery, it must be viewed against the comparatively weak baseline of Q4 2024, as well as ongoing geopolitical tensions and Europe’s continued reliance on external sources for key technologies and materials.
The upswing is not uniform; growth varies significantly across EU countries and product groups. Yet something has shifted in the mindset of decision‑makers: there is renewed momentum, accompanied by a heightened awareness of dependencies and the need for greater resilience and security. At the same time, optimism is growing that the groundhog may soon announce the end of winter.
Semiconductors (Q4):
European semiconductor distribution strengthened notably in the last Quarter of 2025, reaching €2.30 billion in sales (+7.7%) compared with the previous year. While the overall trend is positive, the recovery remains uneven: Switzerland (-16.9%), Ireland (-15.8%), Iberia (-5.8%) and France (-1.5%) continued to post year‑on‑year declines.
In contrast, Turkey (+29.1%), Germany (+14.4%), Benelux (+13.3%) and the UK (+13.3%) delivered the strongest growth, signaling dynamic momentum in several key markets. The sector is clearly regaining confidence, even as structural imbalances across Europe persist.

On the product side, Programmable Logic (-27.9%) and OPTO (-6.9%) recorded the weakest sales. In contrast, Standard Logic (+61.7%), Other Logic (+40.2%), Memory (+34.5%) and Sensors & Actuators (+21.7%) outperformed the market average of +7.7%, showing notable growth. See table below for details.
Interconnect, Passive and Electromechanical Components (Q4):
In the IP&E segment, the momentum from Q3 continued into Q4 delivering a strong Q4 increase of +13.3% and revenues of €1.47 billion. Growth was driven by outstanding regional performances, led by Turkey (+32.5%), Eastern Europe (+21.5%) and Benelux (+15.0%), reflecting solid underlying demand.
France (+6.6%), Austria (+8.7%) and Switzerland (+9.5%) posted only single‑digit gains, indicating a more moderate recovery. Germany, meanwhile, weighed on the overall IP&E average despite showing comparatively better results in semiconductors—underscoring the uneven nature of the rebound across markets and product categories.
Product-wise, Passives (+16.2%) made a solid comeback, while Electromechanical components (+12.8%) delivered a particularly strong performance. Power Supplies (+4.9%) felt back resulting out of the steepest decline that was seen in Batteries and Accumulators (-13.2%) as AC/DC Converters also posted only a small Increase by +2.2% increase. (see table below)

All Components consolidated by Region (Q4):

Chairman Hermann Reiter concluded:
The encouraging figures of recent quarters should not mislead us. Year‑on‑year comparisons look strong largely because the previous baseline was unusually weak. Over the past years, Europe has lost global market share as the electronics boom has concentrated in the AI hubs of the United States and Asia.
Against this backdrop, Europe’s growth may appear modest — yet it is steady, reliable, and rooted in the industrial transformation that is now beginning to take shape.
Europe grows broadly, not uniformly, and this diversity is a strategic asset. History shows that our industrial applications tend to deliver longer lifecycles, deeper reliability and greater sustainability. This is where the true beauty of Europe’s development lies: in a strong industrial backbone, in long‑term planning horizons, and in the stability provided by mature democratic structures.
The environment remains challenging — raw‑material volatility, AI‑driven disruption, and surging demand in aerospace and defense all create both pressure and opportunity. Government initiatives often shine brighter in promise than in execution. Yet Europe has proven itself resilient in difficulties in the past. The challenges are real, but so is our resolve.
About DMASS:
DMASS Europe e.V., (until end of 2022 DMASS Ltd.) a European non-profit organisation, is the only industry body that collates detailed electronic components distribution market data on a quarterly basis by country and product groups such as Microcontrollers, Flash Memories, Analog components, Passives, Electromechanical products and many more.
DMASS was founded in 1989 and provides its members with a reliable statistical tool to evaluate their relative mass-market performance. The organisation consists of 40 active members in 2023 and represents between 80% and 85% of the total European distribution market, depending on the regions. To continuously increase its European market coverage, DMASS welcomes new membership applications from distributors and electronic components manufacturers.
